The Reading Derby Girls are always looking to add members to the league. Not only do we look for skaters, but we rely on a team of people to help operate each scrimmage and bout.
New Skater Training (formerly called “Fresh meat”) is at Skateaway on Wednesday nights where those who are new to the sport can learn the skills necessary for roller derby! All you need is $5, a helmet & mouthguard, and pads (elbow, wrist, and knee) which can be provided at the rink if needed. Fresh meat practices run from 9:00-11:00pm. We hope you’re ready to roll!
Skating Officials (Referees)
Every derby league needs refs. Skating officials make sure that a safe game is played, and are the officials in white & black stripes that send skaters to the box for penalties. Skating is required.
NSOs (Non-skating officials)
Where would a derby league be without NSOs? Penalty timers, score keepers, whiteboard wranglers, whistle blowers, the list goes on and on! No skating skills required.
