The Reading Derby Girls are always looking to add to our league. Not only do we look for skaters, but we rely on a team of people to help operate each scrimmage and bout.
“Fresh meat” (just another word for Rookie in our sport) are welcome to visit Skateaway on Wednesday nights to learn the skills of a derby girl. All you need is $5, a helmet & mouthguard, and pads (elbow, wrist, and knee) which can be provided at the rink if needed. Fresh meat practices run from 9:00-11:00pm. We hope you’re ready to roll!
Every derby league needs refs. Not only do they keep skaters and fans safe by checking that skater equipment and the track is safe, but they are the officials in white & black stripes that send skaters to the penalty box for major penalties. Skating is required.
NSOs (Non-skating officials)
Where would a derby league be without NSOs? Penalty timers, score keepers, whiteboard wranglers, whistle blowers, the list goes on and on! No skating skills required.
